Ms. Matthews oversees fundamental credit analysis, research, and analytics for all municipal investments. Prior to joining Tortoise Credit Strategies, Ms. Matthews worked for Palmer Square Capital Management as executive director and senior research analyst of high yield municipal strategies. Before Palmer Square, she was director of research for Spring Mountain Capital’s high yield and distressed municipal strategies group. Prior to that, she was a high yield municipal credit analyst at Ofelia Capital. Before that, she was a co-portfolio manager of high yield municipal bonds at Aroya Capital and vice president with Cohen & Company, where she co-managed the first-ever municipal CDO portfolio. Earlier in her career, Ms. Matthews also worked for Fitch Ratings, Neuberger Berman, Radian Asset Assurance and Standard & Poor's.

Ms. Matthews is a recognized industry specialist on operating trends and credit analysis of essential public and social-purpose borrowers, sectors, and municipal financings (e.g., education, healthcare, housing, and infrastructure) that are not backed by the full faith and credit or taxing power of cities, counties or states, particularly for noninvestment grade municipal securities.

Ms. Matthews earned a Master of Public Administration in public policy from the Wagner School at New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Queens College.
