Director of Research

Mr. Wlodek joined Bradford & Marzec, now part of Tortoise Credit Strategies, in 2003 and has 32 years of investment industry experience. As director of research, he maintains the company’s credit research process, supervises the credit research analyst team and interacts closely with the firm’s portfolio managers and traders. Mr. Wlodek also acts as the analyst on specific industry sectors, including airlines, banking, brokerage, business services, environmental, insurance, and other financials and REITs. At various times during his tenure at Bradford & Marzec, he has served as analyst on a breadth of other industries, including cable-media, chemicals, metals and mining, paper and forest products, railroads, telecommunications and transportation services.

Previously, Mr. Wlodek worked as a senior vice president with Imperial Capital, where he gained significant experience in the research and trading of high yield bonds, bank loans and special situation investments and the formulation of investment recommendations regarding distressed and bankrupt issuers. Mr. Wlodek’s high yield and special situation research experience involved performing in-depth analysis of issuer capital structures, operating performance and industry positioning.

He also has experience as an M&A advisor with Barrington Associates, a banker with The Industrial Bank of Japan, and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with Deloitte Haskins & Sells and McGladrey, Hendrickson & Pullen. Each of these positions provide Mr. Wlodek with added insight into areas of expertise that relate directly to the research of investment grade and high yield fixed income investments, as well as bank loans.

Mr. Wlodek's previous industry sector exposure as an M&A advisor, banker and CPA included aerospace, airlines, business services, consumer products, food and beverage, hospitality and leisure, paper and forest products, real estate, retailing, technology and telecommunications.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Indiana University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from UCLA.
